Osprey Falls

So on Monday, after my super eventful hike on Sunday, I told myself that I wouldn’t go hiking today so that I gave my feet a chance to heal. I woke up and took some ibuprofen to help reduce the swelling and pain and went about my day doing not a whole lot that morning. I did go get my employee sticker for my car, allowing me to gallavant around as I please. ;) I also went and got peanut butter, jelly, and bread from the store. Super exciting, I know.

Given my level of boredom and how absolutely gorgeous it was outside, I ignored my previous self and went hiking. I couldn’t help it; it was too tempting. This time, Mike suggested I go down to the end of the road and hike over to Osprey Falls. It wasn’t too far and the falls are huge right now. The first part of the trail is basically a service road which is almost entirely a gradual uphill incline as you wind around. Then there’s a sign before a side trail goes down to the falls warning people that it’s narrow and steep. How bad could it be really? …it was actually super narrow and some of the switchbacks were super steep. But the falls were awesome! The last few hundred yards reminded me of the Mist Trail in Yosemite. I got soaked with water. And then I got to turn around and hike up the narrow switchbacks and go down the road switchbacks. I saw more people on this trail in an hour than all day yesterday (which doesn’t actually take much). All in all, a solid 6.4-mile hike that took just over 3 hours. If you can manage the narrowness of the trail, I’d recommend it! The trailhead is at the bottom of an employee housing area though so don’t be too confused.

The rest of the week was staff training, and if you can imagine it—we had lots of government paperwork, protocols, and other super fun stuff to talk about. (And then we actually had interesting stuff to talk about.) Unfortunately, some of my coworkers are already starting to annoy me. :P
